Etiquette Certification: A New Licensee’s Website
Sylvia Jones is a new licensee. She received her certification in April of this year. You may remember her. I interviewed Sylvia and you will find a replay of the video/interview in the “Links and Resources” section of this article.

You may have heard me mention my licensees that stay in touch with me are the ones that are most successful. Here is proof.
Sylvia got a fast start with her business. She asked the right questions, took action and started teaching etiquette in her community immediately. In fact, on June 7 she texted a copy of a flyer for an event where she was one of the guest speakers. The name of the event was “ Grace, Heels, and Etiquette 101”!
Sylvia again followed up to let me know the event went well and received great feedback from the event organizer and the children that attended.
Etiquette Certification and Marketing: We Can Help You
When we train and certify you, we not only teach you the details of etiquette but provide the absolute best guidance on how to start and market your new business. This includes all social media platforms as well as your website….if you choose to have one.
Take a look at Sylvia’s website (link below). It is concise, and the site focuses on her customer. Her photos tell a story. The site is easy to navigate. She has a professional headshot and guides her viewers to let them know exactly what she is offering.

Most likely, you will want to get to know us: We encourage you to call directly, email or schedule a time to speak. Click the links below to contact us. We look forward to getting to know you.

Choose your ideal training: We offer two options for you to become trained and certified.
One option is a four one-hour training via “live” video sessions. You schedule the sessions according to your timeframe. Most choose to have their trainings once a week, others, twice. These sessions are private….the two of us on the video call. You have the option to turn on your camera or not but you will always see me.
Our second option is a private, two-day immersion training. We meet in-person. The focus is entirely on you and your new business as we sit together. We have breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea together as you learn. You also have the opportunity to observe me teaching a manners class. You will find a list of cities to choose from on our site or by clicking this link.
Of course, with either option, you have on-going support from us. This is included in your training. And yes, that is for the entire three year term of your license. There is not a charge for our on-going support.

Receive the download: Upon payment, you will immediately receive the curriculum. We will start your training and then you will be certified and trained to teach manners to children.

3 Secrets Every Etiquette Expert Needs to Know
The thought of owning a business might be new to you, but that doesn’t mean you want to go slow or procrastinate. Starting a business teaching manners may be one of the most rewarding experiences for you and your community.
While some might decide to wait, you are not! You are ready to get beyond the fear of teaching manners to children and start your business.
You are ready to be trained. You are ready to be certified to teach manners to children because you want expert status AND you want to present yourself as a professional.
To get you inspired and motivated today, I have given you three secrets every etiquette expert needs to know to get past those moments of procrastination.
We are here to help you transform yourself and the children in your community.
So…here you go.

Capture a child’s attention: In today’s world of technology and lack of human connection, you must be enthusiastic about what you are doing….teaching. Spark a child’s curiosity. Be prepared when you teach a class. Tell stories that interest them. Make it personal.
Model the behavior you are teaching. Be fully present when you are in front of class. Encourage engagement by asking questions. Role-play as often as you can. This keeps it interesting.
Put your devices away and make eye contact with them.

Manners Lesson Plans and Curriculum: Children and teens are smart and sophisticated. You cannot teach a class and not be prepared with materials that are intelligent, appropriately illustrated and customized to meet their needs and age.

Confidence: Walk into the room as if you know where you are going! Have you heard that advice before? Now is the time to use it.
Children can sense if you are not well-prepared. When you are prepared, this feeds your confidence as a teacher.
At Manners To Go, we are here to guide you every step of the way.
Here is how you get started on your training and etiquette certification:

Choose: Choose your ideal training. We have two options for you to become certified and trained to start your business.
One option is four, one hour “live” video trainings. You schedule the sessions according to your timeframe. Most choose to have their training once a week, some twice. These sessions are private….the two of us on a video call.
Our second option is a private, two day, immersion training. We meet in-person. Our focus is completely on you. The cities to choose from are located on our website and on the link below.
Of course, either option has on-going support and training as needed during the three-year license period. There is not a charge for this support.

Receive the download: Upon payment, you receive the downloaded curriculum. When you choose either option, the curriculum is downloaded immediately.

Become Trained and Certified by Manners To Go: Once you have completed your certification, you are now licensed by us to teach the Manners To Go program. We mail the certificate to you and you will have the opportunity to use our logo on your website.

Why You Need to Be Trained to Teach Manners to Children?
All of you are on my mind today. As I was researching and preparing for a presentation on business etiquette, I found an article that says “ Emotional Intelligence is the most important job skill in 2020.
Today’s youth need emotional intelligence. They need to learn basic manners, empathy and kindness.
If we are to remain competitive in a global environment, we must prepare our children. They need technical skills but they also need to be emotionally equipped.
Emotional Intelligence is often referred to as Social Emotional Learning or SEL in our schools today.
Our children and teens need skills such as:
- Self-awareness
- Empathy
- Managing emotions
- Respect
- Social skills
- Character
Teachers, associations and parents need you, the etiquette expert, to teach and guide our youth toward emotional intelligence.
You are on my mind because of the need our youth has for your skills. The world needs what you have to offer.
At Manners To Go, we give you the tools to get started teaching manners to children. We assist and guide you on how to develop the skill set to start a business.
We give you the training to teach children how to be self-assured, confident and kind to others.
If an educator contacts you about a school assembly, we provide you with the complete package to meet their needs.
When a parent contacts you to teach table manners in their home, you know exactly what to do.
If a country club needs an outside consultant to provide programming for their members, you have a plan.
Here is how you get started on your etiquette certification and training:

Choose: Choose your ideal training. We have two options for you to become certified and trained to start your business.
One option is four, one hour “live” video trainings. You schedule the sessions according to your timeframe. Most choose to have their training once a week, some twice. These sessions are private….the two of us on a video call.

How to Establish Authority as an Etiquette Expert When You Are First Starting Out
You may be asking yourself, “how do I establish authority as an etiquette expert”. This is a very important question.
We are here to guide you on every step.
You will not only want to read this article but take action on the tips listed.
Tips on How to Become an Etiquette Expert
Communicate with your new audience: Start with social media. This is absolutely free! You can start a Facebook page and post your thoughts and observations. As you read articles that are relevant, comment and post them on your social media platforms.
This is a lifestyle business. As you are out with your children or grandchildren, post about your adventures at the museum or theater. Have you seen a movie that is relevant? As an example, at the end of this post, you will find an article I wrote about the latest Mary Poppins movie. Check out the “Links and Resources” at the bottom of this post.
Offer to write articles for your media resources: You are an expert that can provide valuable information to your clients. Look for ways to help your community by contributing articles to local parenting magazines, online news, and printed media. Pitch your story to local news stations.
What do you have in common with your audience: You know parents are so happy and interested in having their children grow up kind, smart, happy and well-adjusted adults. Educators are happy to have you share not only your passion but your knowledge within their schools. Think about what you have in common. with your audience when writing your bio. Communicate your commonalities when you are introducing yourself to others. This takes practice and intention. Write down your thoughts and ideas.
Draw from your previous experience: All of our current licensees have varied backgrounds. We have teachers, engineers, grandmothers, mothers, human resource managers and event planners. You have transferable skills that make a difference. Trust me, the world needs what you have to offer.
Look for ways to help others: I tell my licensees not to give away their expertise for free. However, there are times when starting your business, where offering a class pro-bono is at times a good idea. It gives you experience and at the same time helps an organization or a non-profit.
At Manners To Go, we help you determine your fees and prepare you to write proposals.
As I was starting my business, we moved to the Philadelphia area. I knew absolutely no one! I started from scratch. I got my start by speaking at a local library. This immediately led to teaching at a premier dining club. You never know who is sitting in your audience. This also led to an article in the newspaper both online and print.
Shift your mindset: You are the expert. Think of yourself as one.
