A New Manners To Go Licensee Becomes Trained and Certified to Teach Children
We are so happy to have Tonia Kassinger join the manners movement to teach social skills to children.
Our immersion trainings are intense but fun. We do our best to choose beautiful locations to meet and to entertain. This one was no exception.
Back to Tonia and more on the location later. Tonia has a background in asset management, a mother and of course, enjoys traveling and fashion. We have so much in common!

A Manners Class for Girls Inc.
During her Immersion Training, Tonia had the opportunity to observe a class in action. We taught over 40 girls table manners while we were there. They were lively, engaged and eager to learn. You will see a few photos of their facility.
Tonia and I were offered a tour of their facility. Upon entering the location, we immediately were swept away with the color and artwork of the space.
I followed my dream and started a successful business. I have learned a thing or two over the years. Now, I am here to guide and teach others to start an etiquette business.

3 Major Changes I Have Noticed Since I Was Certified to Teach Manners to Children
Much has changed since I first started my business teaching manners to children. Of course, the most impactful change has been social media.
Here is a list of three of the changes I have noticed over the years of owning my business. There are more than three but these are the top ones that come to mind. They are all important and you need to aware of them as you start your business.

Many of my licensees teach after school programs or assemblies at public, private and charter schools. You may hear educators refer to a “manners” program as SEL (Social Emotional Learning), Life Skills or Character Education.
2. School are more receptive than ever and they are looking for independent contractors for after school programs. 3 Manners To Go Licensees Made Me Smile This Week
I love it when I peruse Instagram and I see April, a new licensee teaching a group of students. The students are smiling and holding up their workbooks. They are also fortunate to have April, the etiquette expert in their community teaching them about manners, life skills and character. The children are sitting at a beautiful table setting that was well planned and set by April. Check the “Links and Resource” guide below to learn more about April and her business. Another recently trained etiquette expert by us is Sylvia Jones. She too, achieved a very FAST START. She keeps in touch. We encourage all of our licensees to keep us posted on their success. Your Elevator Pitch as an Etiquette Expert
This One Tip Will Get You Noticed When You Introduce Yourself as an Etiquette Expert
Imagine this: you walk into a networking lunch. You meet someone and you strike up a conversation. One thing leads to another and you ask them about their business….after all this is a business function. You are there for a reason…to meet other business owners.
This person tells you they are an accountant. You smile make small talk and then you find yourself in a completely different circle of people. Another conversation and you are speaking again to an accountant. This one however, is very different. Instead of telling you they are an accountant, they set a scene for you. Here is how THEY answer the question, “what do you do or what is your business”:
“Have you ever procrastinated in preparing your taxes? I am the person that guides you through each month of the year with an easy system that only requires you to hit the “print” in January”. My name is Joan and I am an accountant that makes tax prep easy.
You are curious. You listen. You want to learn more about Joan. In fact, you want to hire her on the spot.
Which accountant would you hire?
Here is Your Elevator Pitch as Etiquette Expert
My goal is to guide you through every step of starting a business teaching manners to children.
Often, I have mentioned the importance of networking whether you go to an organized business event or meeting your child’s teacher at school.
Now that you are a business owner, you must introduce yourself with intention. You need an elevator pitch. An elevator pitch is telling someone about what you do or who you are in less than 30 seconds.
You must be prepared in advance to do this well.
Here is an example of What NOT to Say as an etiquette expert:
“Hello, my name is Lisa and I teach manners”.
Try this instead:
“You may have heard parents or teachers comment on how our youth today are a bit too attached to their phones or at times, rude. That is where I come in and help. I make a meaningful mark by teaching children how it feels to have good manners and to treat others with kindness and respect. My name is Joan Smith and I am the founder of My Manners Business.”
