Etiquette Certification: What is the Difference Between A Video and Immersion Training
Here is the reason I am sharing this with you today. I get questions about the difference in our two training options.
Many ask “what is the difference” between a “live” Video Training versus an “In-Person” Immersion Training
First, let’s learn about the commonalities:
Both training options include:
A three-year license; you do not owe any additional fees during the three year period
You receive all revisions and updates during the license period at no charge
All the on-going support during the three-year period that you could possibly want or need and is included in the fee
Curriculum and lesson plans for all four grade levels
Spanish version in addition to the English version
Training by me, the founder, Lisa Richey
Beautifully and professionally illustrated materials that are modern and relevant; customized for each age group
The absolute best manners/etiquette certification and training available
Curriculum and lesson plans immediately downloaded to you upon payment
4 one-hour training sessions via a “live” video link; you choose the dates
Scheduled at your convenience
We spend an intense two days together in-person. You receive approximately 12-14 hours of training encompassing two days. Overall, we spend two full days together.
We mutually agree on a destination (city) and date for your training.
You observe me teaching a manners class in-person. An array of modules are taught to children of multiple ages. Many times this is in a public school setting, after school program or non-profit,
You have the chance to see children participating in the role-playing activities that we are known for in the education arena.
You have the chance to have your dining tutorials in-person. We will spend time together over multiple meals. The meals we have together are included in the fee.
Which training suits you? It depends on how you like to learn. If you like a personal touch and a human connection, then choose the Immersion Training.
Are you looking to get certified, save time and money? Then you may want to consider the video option.
Either way, we promise, you will receive an excellent experience.
How can we help you? We offer you a free 15 minute phone call to get to know us.

Teaching Manners Afterschool When You Are Certified and Trained
Afterschool programs are an intricate part of our education system.
You will benefit and have a deeper understanding on the history of afterschool programs after watching this film.
I was glued and learned so much thanks to Temescal Associates and the How Kids Learn Foundation. A link to the hour long film is below in the Manners To Go Resource Guide.
Afterschool programs for children date back to the late 1880’s.We brought in families from our farm lands and other countries to work in our factories.
Settlement houses were started to meet the huge demand for child care. Immigration labor and women working created a need for child care.
Fast forward to today and we can no longer think of afterschool programs as a need to reduce crime or keep children off the streets. While after care does meet those needs it is so much more.
Afterschool programs offer our youth:
- A chance to build skills
- Explore their interests outside of the traditional classroom
- Socialize with others
- Allows for creativity
- Levels the playing field for all children
The World Needs What You Have to Offer | Your Passion to Teach Manners
There is now a a great deal of attention being paid by our public schools to Social Emotional Learning Skills.
Afterschool is a perfect time to teach other subjects and interests. After care is not regulated and bound like the tradition time in the classroom.
Instead of a “where and when” (where children are going when they get out of school) to a “what and how” (what skills and how can we teach) mindset, you are needed to teach social skills and manners.
Afterschool programs are looking for outside consultants like you to teach specialized subjects.
Afterschool programs are the perfect place to teach manners. Children can learn more about how to socialize and interact with each other. They can build relationships easier outside the classroom. Students learn more about conversation skills, different cultures, respect for self and others.
Would you like to start a business teaching manners to children? You are in the right place. We offer absolutely everything you need to get started today. From templates to write proposals to social media assistance, we offer a comprehensive program .

Videos are no longer the trend in social media but the norm. Whether you are using “Facetime” to speak with family or using video for business, it has become the way we function….in everyday life.
When training new licensees, I share all of my resources that I have used over the years. It might be my web-developer, photographer or my favorite links for logo design.

On your website so that your new clients can get to know you.

A follow-up for your private instruction, troops or schools: You can use videos to check-in with your students to see how they are doing and provide tips.
A Camera That Changes Everything
I have a Mac with a decent camera but once I tried the Logitech that easily attaches to ANY laptop it made my videos much clearer and up-leveled the quality. I do not have a fancy studio with professional lighting….only this camera!
Of course, filming videos is not a requirement to start any business. Our desire is to share what we learn and help you become successful in your business.

A Peek Into Etiquette Immersion Training with Manners To Go
I Created This With You In Mind
This training experience was memorable and as I am writing about it this morning, I am missing my time with Tonia and the inn. Our two days together were non-stop but also stimulating…both visually and intellectually.
We stayed at a beautiful Bed and Breakfast Inn. The location was stunning and in the middle of a vibrant city. The home was built in the 1800’s. The renovations took two years. The home is owned by an interior designer and it shows.
The innkeepers were lovely and meticulous. Their careers have taken them all over the world and they have worked with hotels such as The Ritz Carlton and The Peninsula in Bangkok and Shanghai.

Grace, the innkeeper, served a three course breakfast every morning. It was most enjoyable and enlightening to speak with and hear about the adventures of the other guests in the inn.
Another Immersion Training in New York was equally as special. New York offers many elevated experiences for exceptional experiences.
Recently, a new licensee chose New York for her training. She decided to take on a location that was not the “familiar” and boarded a flight for her adventure.

Our first breakfast together included a latte with coconut milk and “dosas”.
Similar to a crepe, a Dosa, originating from India, is made with rice batter and served with a filling. We experienced this beautifully presented meal at ABC V in New York.

The two of us braved a Polar Vortex and found ourselves in a very special Charter School in The Bronx. You know when you walk into a building and find your self in a special place. This was our experience with this school.

You can tell from the photos the school took special care of their students. Artwork and music filled the halls.
The teachers and students prepared and cooked our lunch that day for the table manners instruction.
Down south on an Immersion session we had a dining instruction not only on American and European style but used chopsticks. The restaurant has received accolades as one of the top 50 restaurants by Forbes.

We were honored to be instructed on how to use chopsticks by the executive chef. The two of us decided to experience dim sum with the best.
Our training included a visit to the Boys and Girls Club where we worked with Elementary and Middle School students in an after school program.
You choose the dates. You choose the location. We plan every detail.
Come away with us. Book now and transform your life. Today’s youth need exactly what you have to offer.

Manners at the Table: Device Free Family Meal
Do you sit down with your family for a meal? I am sure this comes as no surprise but those families that sit together have fewer behavior problems, healthier eating habits, improved conversation skills and better grades.

Yes, times have changed but from what we are observing here at Manners To Go, connection and community are paramount.
As an adult looking back on my childhood, my fondest memories are sitting down with my parents for mealtime. My mother was a second grade teacher but she made it a point to have a meal on the table. We talked about school, homework and other events going on in the world. Even if my father were out of town, the two of us would always have breakfast and dinner together.
Today, this may not always be possible as we have gotten so busy. My point here is to make it happen as often as you can. It is not so much about the food….we have so many choices and resources today but about the sharing.
Device Free Family Meal

A place setting has never included a phone! It is not beside the fork or the spoon.
Why not have a basket where every family member (yes, this includes the parents) places their device? Don’t forget to turn the phones to silent mode and be with the one(s) you are with at the moment. Make eye contact. Listen. Make and start conversations.
I promise, you will cherish these moments as will your children.

I bet we already share something in common. We believe in teaching manners, character and social emotional skills are very important.
Manners To Go is a full service company for those choosing to teach manners to children.
Manners To Go is taught in public, private and charter schools all over the world. If you are a teacher, school counselor or coach, join our manners movement. If you are a parent, grandparent or love children, teach them manners. We offer a curriculum for every grade level.
