3 Beliefs to Embrace for Etiquette Experts
When first starting out – going after my desire to teach and start a business, I was so scattered. I really was flying by the seat of my pants!
Of course, I sought advice and read everything I could get my hands on but it wasn’t enough.
I wish I had someone to tell me what I am about to tell you.
There are 3 beliefs I wish I had focused on and embraced when starting my business teaching manners to children.
These are not tactical steps, such as a business license, choosing a curriculum or attending networking events. Although these are important.
This has to do with your mindset. And boy oh boy is it the most important step of all.
Here is the good news! It is easy and one that you can do all by yourself. Yes, it is about self-interest – and only you can make the change.
3 MOST IMPACTFUL Beliefs You Need to Embrace to Become a Successful Etiquette Expert
Belief # 1: VALUE | For those of you that have been following me for some time, you know that I am a big believer in what we bring to the world.
We bring a great deal of value. And each one of us has our individual style. If you have a desire to teach manners to children, then you have a calling. You have a gift. And it is VALUABLE and NEEDED.

Belief # 2: CONFIDENCE | You need confidence to start a business…any business.
You can do this as many of us have.
Confidence is not having fear around certain emotions. Emotions that limit you are: rejection, humiliation, failure or embarrassment.
The more experience you have at the above, the richer and fuller your life will be.

Belief # 3: MAKE A CHANGE MAKE A DIFFERENCE | You need to believe what you have to offer will change the lives of children. You need to know what you have to offer is exactly what the world needs right now and that you are the ONE to make it happen.

3 Common Etiquette Faux Pas and How You Can Help Others
Flashback…too many years ago to reveal!
I was in the height of my career with Levi Strauss & Co. A major client was in San Francisco from Dallas to review next season’s release of jeans in every color and finish imaginable.
Of course, after the presentations, as a team we would attend a lavish dinner at the latest chic and hip restaurant.
We were starving, as the day was long looking at every style of denim possible.
The table was preset. The bread basket rolled around the table. We all were drooling and wouldn’t you know it…. someone used the wrong bread plate! This was an embarrassing moment.
To this day I am not sure who it was…but I will tell you this…I wondered if it was me. I had just received a promotion. I was duly aware that I was being “watched”. All my “i’s” were dotted and “t’s” crossed. I was watching my every move.
It stayed on my mind throughout the week.
Let’s help others avoid these embarrassing moments.
3 Most Common Etiquette Faux Pas
If you are like me, you are passionate about helping others.
When you are interested in teaching manners, you must keep in mind the value that you add to the lives of both children and adults.
You have the exact skill that all of us need.
When you use good manners life get easier. It puts others at ease.
You become self-aware and certainly more confident.

Where is my bread plate?
Have you ever been to a networking event during lunch? It never fails. Someone whispers, “where is my bread plate”.
I am going to tell you and you will never forget. The bread plate is on the left. How can you remember? Think of a BMW. Bread Meal Water
I promise you will never forget.

How to Hold a Fork
This one takes the cake! If you are eating American Style, the fork is held in your most dominant hand, like a pencil. Not a shovel
If you are eating European Style, the fork is held tines down in your mouth.

Introductions
You must stand for an introduction. This is a sign of self-respect and respect for the other person.
Fast forward a few years…because this situation never left my mind, I have taught thousands of children and adults in corporate America social skills.
We are here to help you achieve big results so that you can make a difference with youth AND build a business that you absolutely love.

Are you interested in learning about different cultures? You are going to love today’s article about our new licensee teaching Manners To Go in Ghana.
Ohemaa was such a pleasure to get to know. I looked forward to our video training sessions. I learned so much about her culture and of course what they love to serve for dinner in Ghana….you know I love to talk about food!
When you start any business, naming your new venture is a big deal. Some struggle a bit while others come to me with a name already selected. Well…Ohemaa, takes the cake! In fact, she could teach a course on how to name your business. During our second training session, she gave me a list of more than twelve names she was considering. All of them were FANTASTIC. Listen to the video to learn how she came up with so many ideas.

A New Licensee Becomes Certified and Trained

Etiquette Certification: I Keep Getting Asked THIS Question?
As a business owner, I am in awe of my current licensees. During these unprecedented times I am watching the Manners To Go licensees show up for their communities.
As etiquette experts, they are adding so much value for parents and schools who are looking for content and programs to teach children manners and social skills.
I want to share with you, now more than ever, showing up with high-value programs and content that serves your audience is the very best thing you can do.
I have been getting this question:

VALUE: How can you add value? Take out a notepad and write your answers to this question.
We are lucky as etiquette experts. One thing I know for sure, parents and teachers are always looking for help with our subject matter….manners, character, kindness and social skills.
What can you do? Write an article for a local publication (online or print). Post helpful tips on your Facebook page or other social media platforms.

PLAN: Most likely, right now you have a bit of extra time on your hands. Why not get certified while you have this block of time to devote to your new business?
I am here to help you with that. We have been training our licensees for years by using “live” video platforms.

Most likely, you will want to get to know us. Feel free to call or email us. Click on the links below. We are happy to discuss the details with you.
