Defining The Etiquette of Quiet Luxury

“Quiet luxury” is a concept in the realm of fashion and lifestyle that emphasizes subtle, understated, and often discreet forms of luxury. Quiet luxury focuses on quality, craftsmanship, and a more nuanced aesthetic.

When I buy something, especially clothing, and it is a quiet luxury item, it becomes an intentional purchase.  This purchase is not a quick or impulse buy.

Quiet luxury has been around and a focus for the past few years.

Think of a beautiful cashmere sweater, a pair of loafers, a gorgeous pair of wool trousers, or a timeless watch.

These are items you will have a select out of your closet for years to come.

I am a big believer in quality over quantity.  Less is more.  We have all heard of this popular saying.  And when I think about quiet luxury this comes to mind an a guideline when making purchases.

My quiet luxury items are my always my favorites.

Key Characteristics of Quiet Luxury Include:

Steps for Quiet Luxury
  • Understated Elegance: Quiet luxury often embraces simplicity and elegance without relying on ostentatious displays or flashy logos. The focus is on the inherent beauty of well-designed and well-made products.
  • Timeless Design: Products associated with quiet luxury tend to have timeless designs that withstand trends. This contributes to a longer lifespan for items, both in terms of style and durability.
  • Attention to Detail: Craftsmanship and attention to detail are paramount in quiet luxury. The quality of materials and the meticulous execution of design contribute to the overall sense of luxury.
  • Limited Branding: Unlike some luxury brands that prominently feature logos, quiet luxury often opts for more subtle branding. The emphasis is on the product itself rather than the brand name.
  • Exclusive Experiences: Beyond physical products, quiet luxury can extend to exclusive and personalized experiences. This could include private consultations, limited edition releases, or bespoke services. When you are an etiquette expert, clients will call you for private manners instructions and trainings -for both children and adults.
  • Sustainability: Many consumers seeking quiet luxury are increasingly concerned about sustainability. Products may be crafted from eco-friendly materials, and brands may prioritize ethical and environmentally responsible practices.

Quiet luxury can manifest in various industries, including fashion, accessories, home goods, and travel experiences.

The concept caters to individuals who appreciate the beautiful things but prefer a more understated and refined approach to expressing their tastes and values. This easily aligns for us in the world of etiquette.
